When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

Friday, June 10th, 2011

You have decided on Marrakech but when is the best time to visit the ‘pink city’? Well, as they say, you pay your money and take your choice.

As the charts below indicate, even sun worshippers will find the heat of summer overpowering, driving them to look for shade and water.  In mid winter, by contrast, even though the sky is blue you’ll be glad of a coat in early morning and after dusk.

The most popular months for the majority of tourists are between October and April because this is when temperatures are most agreeable and vegetation at its most colourful best; bougainvillea and oleaders are in flower from December to May and the orange season is at its height in January and February.

Choosing your date depends a lot on what you’re planning to do. If walking, golfing or just sightseeing, you’ll be glad if the weather is not too hot. On the other hand, if relaxation is your thing then the hottest months will appeal, especially if you have access to a swimming pool and air conditioning (both of which are available at les Borjs de la Kasbah). Marrakech events – what’s happening in early 2011?

Friday, February 18th, 2011

February – The Dakka Marrakchia Festival is a unique musical event held every February in honour of Sabaatou Rijal, the spiritual patrons of the city. For this sacred music festival in Marrakech, think polyrhythmic percussion blended with choral chants.

Expect plenty of colour and an authentic, traditional Marrakech flavour. Soak up a bit of Moroccan musical culture - unmissable!

March – Another festival that is literally magic is the Marrakech Magic Festival (19th – 22nd March 2011). Spell binding performances from international illusionists and magicians take place at the Royal Theatre supplemented by free street performances throughout the city.

March is a lovely time to visit Marrakesh with temperatures rising and flowers, especially roses and bougainvillea, at their best.  The city is full of magic on a normal day so expect to have the time of your life during the Magic Festival!

Cookery Courses in Moroccan Cuisine

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Given the growing interest in the cuisine of other cultures outside Europe, we have added Cookery Courses to our range of services. Often conducted by the chef himself, with an interpreter if necessary, the courses aim to give an insight into the use of exotic spices in classic Moroccan recipes during preparation of a three-course meal which you prepare yourself and then enjoy for lunch. Each morning course (for between 2 and ten people maximum) lasts for about three hours and can be booked at the hotel itself after your arrival.
