The 6th running of the TransMarocaine takes place from Saturday 12th to Sunday March 20th 2011.
What is the TransMarocaine? Described as a Multi-Sports Challenge, the event is open to Men and Women of all levels of athletic ability and is a fabulous way of seeing some of the best of Morocco.
The objective is to cross the Atlas mountains in five stages, from south to north, by mountain bike, kayak, (on Lake Ouarzazate), and on foot (walking, running and orienteering) amid some of the most outstanding natural scenery in Morocco.
Covering a total distance of some 250 km prior to the finishing line in Marrakech, this is a pretty tough circuit but the emphasis is on having fun and enjoying the surroundings rather than finishing first.
With some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in North Africa, ideal for outdoor activities of all kinds, the TransMarocaine, or, more accurately, the trans-Atlas, is a unique event created to reveal the countless beautiful faces of one of Morocco’s most celebrated natural attractions as well as one of the most famous cities in the world, Marrakech.
And after all that effort, what you’ll really need is some pampering in one of the best character hotels in Marrakech, the 18 roomed ‘Les Borjs de la Kasbah’ with its pool, spa and fine dining restaurant.
