Marrakech has three excellent 27 hole courses (a fourth is under construction and two others are planned!), all some 15 to 20 minutes from the hotel, where palm trees and exotic plants flourish against the backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas, from November to April. It is compulsory to employ caddies but this is a modest extra (around 100 dhs), given the benefit of their local knowledgeand to have one's bag carried on a hot day!
The Royal Club (opened 1923)
Woodland course, 5,888m, par 70. Picturesque, narrow fairways flanked by palm, cypress, olive and orange trees which make this shadier than other courses. Practice area/driving range. Open restaurant/bar.
The Palmeraie (opened 1993)
Parkland course, 6,214m, par 72. In a palm grove with several acres of lakes as well as fine views of the Atlas. Practice area. Large clubhouse with good restaurant and spacious bar.
Amelkis (opened 1995)
Parkland course, 6,657m, par 72. Open fairways among palms and olives with big, mainly shallow bunkers and water hazards. Driving range. Impressive kasbah style clubhouse with sunny terrace.
If you’d like to play golf during your visit to the Borjs de la Kasbah bookings, transfers, tee times, prize giving dinners and even club hire can be arranged through Reception.
