In the Kasbah quarter of the ancient Marrakech medina, easily accessible by taxi, minibus and horse-drawn calèche and only yards from the Royal Palace, Les Borjs de la Kasbah is a charming boutique hotel in Marrakech meticulously created by craftsmen over a period of four years from a complex of six small town houses (dars) and one riad.
On entering this haven of tranquillity you will be struck by the restful atmosphere of contemporary refinement and arabo-moorish charm,
the whole contrasting sharply with the frenetic activity of the thronged medina beyond its walls.
I spent three wonderful nights at this charming and beautiful riad - and wished I could have stayed longer. This was my second visit to Marrakech but my first as a solo traveller - and I felt totally at ease as soon as I was greeted in the comfortable salon with fresh mint tea and pastries. Throughout my stay I was given the warmest welcome by lovely owners Tom and Nora and their fantastic team, from front of house superstars Khatija, Hamza and Jamal to culinary queen Meryam (whose breakfast pancakes are out of this world), not forgetting spa angel Fatija, who worked her magic so well I kept nearly falling asleep during my treatments! My (premium double) room was just perfect, with authentic decor, super-comfy bed and amenities that elevated the experience, including a bath and separate shower, bathrobes and luxury Les Sens de Marrakech products in the huge bathroom, TV with international channels, aircon and minibar/fridge. The central courtyard below was a peaceful and atmospheric setting for a delicious dinner on my first evening (there is an indoor bar and restaurant too.) A short walk into another open courtyard leads to the heated pool, which is a great size for a riad in the Medina and the perfect temperature to be enjoyed year round. I enjoyed relaxing in the afternoon sun, with snacks, lunch and drinks available to order via a handy call button. To be able to cool off in the pool was a bonus during a hot weekend. The location in the Kasbah area in the south of the medina is perfectly placed, on a quiet street, away from the craziness of the souks and Djema el-Fna square (although it's walkable to all the main sights within 15-20 mins). This part of the medina has a very friendly, local, village atmosphere, with some great places to eat and drink close by (check out Odette on the rooftop of La Sultana hotel for a high-end cocktail treat, and Zeitoun Cafe, both a few minutes' walk away for incredible mocktails and great food). I felt very safe walking back alone late at night, with lots of people out and about and little shops open. On my last morning I took a stroll down an unexplored street and encountered ad-hoc fruit and veg stalls opening for business, without another tourist in sight. I thoroughly recommend a stay at Les Borjs, whether visiting with friends, family, as a couple or alone. Tom, Nora and team offer the very best in hospitality, combining the authentic experience of staying in a riad with superb facilities at incredibly reasonable rates. (Book directly for the best deals - and I say that as a seasoned Expedia points-gatherer!) I guarantee that you will feel like an honoured guest and leave thoroughly relaxed, refreshed and with treasured memories. I shall most definitely return!
I spent a week in Marrakech this October and was lucky to stay in the wonderful Les Borjs de la Kasbah. We arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed and served the traditional mint tea and pastries. Les Borjs is an oasis of calm and tranquillity and all the senses are happy: from the sound of the little fountain and birdsong (some very boisterous little finches brought a smile to everyone's face), to the fragrance of the orange blossom and rose permeating the air. Everywhere I looked I saw something beautiful: the hotel was so well thought out, particularly the rooms which were beautiful and exceptionally clean. I have to mention the beautiful library – this was by far my favourite room. Food was also fantastic and I regret I didn’t take advantage of the cooking course run by hotel chef! But most of all, my stay was made exceptionally pleasant by wonderful people: Nora and Tom are such warm and welcoming hosts and the staff are just amazing: attentive and really helpful, especially advising us on the trips and activities which the hotel organises brilliantly. This was my first visit to Marrakech, but definitely not last, and I will definitely be returning to this special hotel.
All the 5* reviews are spot-on. This is a very special place. You get the warmest welcome from Tom & Nora, and all the staff are friendly and dedicated to making your stay as comfortable as possible. This was our first visit to Marrakech - and to Morocco - but it won't be the last. The people were so friendly and helpful. We felt perfectly safe at all times, and the guides were excellent too. We even had a great day in the rain! The location of the hotel was perfect for us - a peaceful, cool retreat, but not too far to walk into the 'action' when you want to. Our room was well-appointed and we slept like logs the whole time. The food is also very good here - especially Miriam's breakfast omelettes!
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, especially the Restaurant staff who were very accommodating to our special requests. The rooms beautifully furnished. The pool attendant was a star; he went above and beyond to help my wife in and out of the swimming pool. Thoroughly recommended. Can't wait to go there again.
Beautiful Riad, just on the outskirts of the Medina, easy walk to the main square, Royal Palace, places to eat etc. The couple (Tom and Nora) who run the riad could not have been more helpful, from restaurant ideas, to helping my daughter whose tummy was not the best after sampling some local drinks at a streetfood market. The BK rooms are large and very comfortable, the pool area is fantastic to unwind in at after visiting the bustling Medina and the breakfast was the best we had for our entire stay. The children even got to have Nutella with their pancakes and marmite on toast, a really lovely touch, as well as the more traditional Moroccan breakfast and eggs made to order. Would love to go back there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
My 3 friends and I booked a trip to Marrakesh as a birthday adventure. Our stay at les Borjs de la Kasbah was perfection. The facilities and beauty of it made us want to spend more time there than exploring the delights of Marrakesh !😃 The rooms were beautiful, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, food was excellent and the pool and courtyard were like oases of peace and tranquillity. The location was perfect too. Easy access to wherever u needed to be , but behind the walls of Les Borjs there was peace and quiet away from the hustle of the centre. Couldn’t imagine wanting to stay anywhere else while visiting Marrakesh
This is such a beautiful place to stay. Comfortable, clean, well equipped rooms. Fabulous staff who are always around to help if needed. The owners are around regularly and always take time to chat to each guest. Beautiful facilities such as the lovely pool area and the courtyard for drinks and meals. Good breakfast each day. Great spa treatment. Quiet location at the edge of the Kasbah near to 2 gates so very easy for taxis to pick up and drop off. Easy 15 minutes’ walk to Saadian Tombs, Baihia Palace, Tinsmiths Square. We had such a good time here, we didn’t want to leave! Thank you to everyone at BK.
This is a charming boutique hotel (several dars and a riad in one) with large rooms, a pool, courtyards with bougainvillea and several rooms off the where you could take your coffee, drinks or curl up with a book. There is also a spa where you can have a massage or hamman. The service is excellent…..Tom and Nora, who run the hotel, will do everything to ensure your stay is comfortable while Hamzah and the front desk team are always there to make sure you have everything you need for your day ahead. The hotel is situated 20 minutes on foot from main square and within walking distance of all attractions. Highly, highly recommend!!
Well, we had read numerous reviews when comparing central Marrakesh Riads for our one week visit including some for Les Borjs de la Kasbah seemingly too good to be true…but let me tell you, it’s all true! This was truly our home from home. The Riad is peaceful enough to be able to enjoy a quiet poolside day but equally vibrant enough to enjoy the company of others at dinner. Our room was a perfect blend of the traditional with the modern. We ate here for three days with their perfect authentic menu. Most of the delights of Marrakesh are merely a walk away. The staff are perfectly attentive with Nora and Tom the perfect hosts with a special mention for Hamza and Mounia. Oh, and I received a lovely, unexpected surprise for my birthday…so sweet. We are already looking at our next dates.
I made my booking here based on the stellar reviews. The airport transfer service was waiting for me, despite the flight delay, and I was checked to Les Borjs while offered mint tea and biscuits, and a gloriously cold wet towel to freshen up on coming in from the sweltering heat. Very well-appointed room with quality amenities, including a quiet and very effective AC (really important during the Moroccan summer). I opted for a delicious a la carte dinner in the courtyard under the trees which was very pleasant - just look out for over-active little birds! Bed was firm and comfortable, leading me to have a late breakfast buffet the next morning - which was also very good. Thank you, Hamza, Nadia, Nora, Tom, Kadijah and the man fixing the electrics who helped me with my bags, for a very pleasing (though brief) stay. Peace and quiet and excellent service in the midst of bustling Marrakech - totally recommended! Noteworthy details : romantic and quiet and truly excellent service. The staff went out of their way to help me change my notes into smaller denominations and made sure I was comfortable (with the AC) in the bar area (even though I wasn't ordering anything to drink) while waiting for my airport transfer upon departure.
This is a charming boutique hotel/riad with large bedrooms, courtyards with bougainvillea, a pool and several public rooms off the main patio where you can take your coffee or drinks and curl up with a book. There is also a spa where you can have a massage or hamman…which I highly recommend. The service is excellent…..Tom and Nora, who run the hotel, will do everything to ensure your stay is comfortable. And Hamzah and the front desk team are always there to make sure you have everything you need for your day ahead. The hotel is situated 20 minutes from the main square and within walking distance of many other attractions. I highly, highly recommend!!
On a recent tour across Morocco we stayed at this riad. The staff is friendly and went out of their way to give our small tour group a wonderful stay. It was the little things that made this outstanding, from a welcome fruit basket, a towel warmer and even to the most delightful orange blossom soap. I loved the way one of the staff member's headscarf was styled so she taught me how to recreate it with a different scarf and my sister took a video so I could do the same when I returned home. The rooms, breakfast, pool were all delightful.
I stumbled across this amazing hotel tucked away on one of the small streets of the kasbah, completely by chance. One can walk past it if not aware but, behind the gates, is a spectacular hotel. Upon my arrival the staff, particularly the two wonderful managers, Nora & Tom, did everything they could to make my stay one of the most pleasant I have had in a long time. The facilities are fantastic with a large pool and spa and very comfortable rooms in a traditional Moroccan building. Unfortunately I was passing through on this trip but in future Les Borjs de la Kasbah will be my number one spot in Marrakech. Thank you to Tom, Nora and the amazing team.
I had booked here because of the excellent reviews and wasn't disappointed. I'd booked the small room but it was actually quite spacious enough with plenty of storage space and a large bathroom. I arrived quite early in the morning so my room wasn't ready but I was offered some breakfast while waiting and it was excellent, with a member of staff making fresh eggs, pancakes etc. I also made use of the lovely pool area for an early morning swim. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the main road where you can either get a bus, taxi or 20 minutes walk to the main square. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Marrakech.
We had such a wonderful time at Les Borjs de la Kasbah. It was our first visit to Marrakech and the hotel helped us organise transport from the airport, a great city tour and a day trip out to the mountains. The hotel is wonderful - comfy rooms, lovely pool, excellent food and in a great location in the old town. The owners and staff really went out of their way to make this a memorable trip for us, including rushing to the airport to hand over a mobile phone that we left behind on departure. I really recommend that you visit Les Borjs de la Kasbah if you're heading to Marrakech.
What a gem of a hotel. It was an oasis of calm to come back to after experiencing the craziness of the markets and wandering around the Medina. We loved the large pool which is a rarity within the Medina. The common areas and courtyards were stunning. Our room was clean and luxurious with rose petals on the bed when we checked in. The staff were wonderful and helpful. The included breakfast was delicious and had good variety and dinners were high quality and reasonably priced. We highly recommend this hotel.
Les Borjs de la Kasbah is a beautiful property in the heart of Marrakech which prides itself on great attentive service, authentic food and beautiful surroundings. The spa offers great treatments including hammam sessions, massages and pedicures - a great way to relax after busy days in the markets of Marrakech. The excursions organised by the Hotel to Jardin Majorelle and The Atlas Mountains were both excellent. All of the staff made us feel so welcome and attended to our every needs. Definitely a place I will return to in the future.
The hotel was exceptional and we received such great assistance from the owners. Thanks Nora and all your very friendly staff for making our time in Marrakech so comfortable. The restaurant was also excellent: it was the only place we stayed in (during our tour of Morocco) where we were able to order some great Moroccan wine. The food was probably the best we had in Morocco which says a lot because we were there for 10 days and tried many restaurants. The rooms were amazing and we were so comfortable. Thanks for everything! If you’re thinking of staying at this wonderful hotel, this is your sign to book it now - 100% recommended.
Nora and her staff were so wonderful to us from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We had decided we wanted to get married at Les Borjs after a friend had mentioned our plans to Nora, the co-director, before we arrived and she graciously agreed to host us. When we talked to her about what we wanted she was happy and willing to do anything we requested. As there is an onsite spa I was treated to a traditional hammam and had a personal hairdresser attend me on the day itself. As we had been unable to obtain a priest locally Hamza, one of the front desk staff, officiated our wedding for us. They also brought in a lady to apply traditional henna decoration for me prior to the ceremony after which, in keeping with tradition, they scraped off the dye, mixed it with water and irrigated one of the orange trees with it. I was greeted as I came down the stairs to walk down the aisle accompanied by Moroccan chants before the ceremony. Nora also took care of my simple bouquet, to which were attached some special charms from my family. Then, to end the day, we were treated to an intimate Moroccan style dinner, the feature dish being lamb shoulder, beside the secluded pool, with candles and heat lamps and music. All to ourselves. It was simply the most magical way to start our life together. My husband and I will be forever grateful to have had such an amazing wedding, just the two of us and the hotel staff. We were treated like a true King and Queen. Thank you to Les Borjs for making our special day a dream come true.
As this was our first experience of Morocco we wanted to stay in the old city of Marrakech especially as we are old enough to remember the 1969 song "Marrakesh Express" and in particular stay in the Kasbah area. Les Borjs de la Kasbah seemed to fit the bill. It turned out to be the right choice. It is a lovely family owned business. The staff and owners are such nice people. We had a standard suite (Room 202) for seven nights and couldn't have asked for a nicer room. The food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. They can organise tours for you so we took advantage of that and had three different trips out. A great place to stay and not too far from anything of interest.
Les Borjs de la Kasbah a wonderful place! I felt at home as soon as I arrived and was very sad to leave. Tom and Nora are superb hosts and their team is fantastic. Nothing is too much effort for them. It is simply a beautiful place to relax, meet people and enjoy good food and drink. The restaurant serves the best food I had during my stay in Marrakech, from tagines or steak to the Les Borjs burger. The wine and cocktails are also top notch. I absolutely loved my room, which was spacious and very comfortable. I could not have asked for anything more. I strongly recommend this hotel for a family, couple or a solo traveller. The ambience is lovely and the location is excellent. Everything is on your doorstep. Mohammed and Hamza on Reception hotel offer excellent advice on day trips and will answer any other question you may have. Thank you Les Borjs de la Kasbah. I'll be back!
This was a short but wonderful trip to Marrakech to celebrate my son's birthday. I can really state that choosing Les Borjs de la Kasbah was the best decision I could ever have made. From arrival to departure we were treated as special guests - nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Tom and Nora were exceptional hosts, the dining room experience was amazing, thanks to an extremely talented chef, and our room overlooking the courtyard was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The riad hotel is situated in the Medina so everything we hoped to see in Marrakech was walkable. I intend returning very soon to this amazing find. Thank you Tom and Nora
This Anglo/French, husband and son are English and wife is French, family run riad is simply top class. The service is exceptional and all the staff always have a smile and can't do enough to please. HOTEL RESPONSE: many thanks for your complimentary remarks. We haven't yet started following Ryanair's example - as we might if we were to decide that everything apart from the bed should cost extra! - but a friendly smile is the very least one should expect from staff at any hotel, even if, sadly, one doesn't always get one! For the record, Les Borjs is indeed owned by an Anglo-French couple (my wife and I) but it is run by their 50:50 son, Tom, and his Moroccan wife, Nora, who is in charge of receiving visitors and much more besides. All of us are delighted to welcome visitors from the lovely island of Ireland so we hope to see you again.
This riad in the old medina is close to the Royal Palace, the Badi Palace and the royal tombs and within a nice stroll of the main square (its location makes you walk through a nice section of the old city that is a bit off the beaten track). The riad/hotel itself is beautiful, modern and fully equipped. I stayed in a suite and it was big and super gorgeously decorated. The owner himself and his very friendly staff are there to talk with you, to help and welcome you. There are two really nice patios with a good restaurant inside. Totally recommended.
Immediately wanted to permanently move in to Les Borjs and live there for months. Staff and owners are welcoming and quite outstanding at providing services; food is excellent; rooms are exotic yet very comfortable and spa services are truly outstanding.
