Marrakech Street Food Festival

On November 9th Marrakech will be hosting its first “Street Food" Festival, a highly original event designed to attract an international audience of gourmets to sample and enjoy some of the best specialities of traditional Moroccan gastronomy and to discover the new trends in ‘revisited’ street food.

The event is designed to highlight the best of Morocco’s culinary heritage and to share some of its secrets with foodies from around the world.

Taking place on the city’s famous central square, the Place Jemaa el Fna, the program is orchestrated around 20 well-known chefs drawn from various popular restaurants in the medina who have been recruited to help celebrate Morocco’s culinary tradition by catering for up to 5,000 people on the day!

From the famous ‘Marrakchia tanjia’ to ‘briouate’ savoury parcels and Marrakchi style fish dishes, the chefs will awaken your taste buds with traditional delicacies and contemporary street food ‘revisited’.

Coinciding with the event, The Arts & Culture Foundation will also be publishing a book entitled ‘Metier: artisan cuisinier’ ("Occupation: mastercook"), putting into the spotlight the best chefs of the medina, their recipes and culinary secrets.
