Covering more than 2,600 kilometres and challenging riders with over 1,600 kilometres of timed special stages, the 2021 edition of the Rallye du Maroc will be based around the Moroccan town of Zagora, on the northern edge of the Sahara. Opening with a short 10-kilometre ‘prologue’, the race will comprise five long, stages held on fast tracks and open desert. As well as outright speed, accurate navigation through the sand dunes and rocky pistes will be key to a strong final result.
The rally stars of bikes, cars and trucks categories were out in force on October 14th, the day before the Rally Morocco got underway in Zagora. The race is seen as a key warm up event for the legendary Dakar Rally, due to take place in Saudi Arabia in January 2022.
The next running of the Morocco Desert Challenge itself is due to take place between 2st and 30th April 2022.
